Earthdawn 4E: Rogues' Gallery 25 - Bandit [Alt]

This is the twenty-fifth 4E Rogues' Gallery, an ongoing series about Earthdawn Fourth Edition. Introduction and Index.

Everything contained here is the work of a fan and not associated with FASA Games.

Like other entries in the Rogues' Gallery [Alt] series, this presents NPCs in a different fashion easier to use in combat. Essentially, these are disposable opponents who don't need to have skills referenced. They are also written to be more appropriate as combat challenges for the given Circle.

This particular entry presents bandits at various degrees of competency to be easily dropped into any game. The intent is to build this up with more such simplified entries over time.

Bandit [Recruit]

This is your basic bandit. Not much sophistication, but they can be dangerous. They're unlikely to fight to the death, though will probably retreat rather than surrender given their profession.

Bandit [Seasoned]

Seasoned bandits have some experience, stole some money, and are generally more dangerous. Like their less experienced brethren, they aren't into fighting to the death, but prefer to retreat. They'll only surrender if they feel it's a better deal than certain death. There's a decent chance a bounty is on their head.

Bandit [Veteran]

This is where bandits start to get dangerous. Veterans have been around and know the value of working as a team. They're not formally trained like a soldier, but play to the strengths of their of their crew. Which are dirty tricks. These bandits will stick around until it's clear the tables have turned and then they're out. You don't get to be a veteran bandit by fighting losing battles.

Bandit [Elite]

Maybe an elite bandit is a disaffected scout or a mercenary who got sick of working for other people. They're signficantly more dangerous than the typical bandit and aren't in it just for the money, but also the fun. These bandits may retreat, but may also continue to shadow their opponents, looking for an opportunity. They may just as likely be gentleman thieves.
