Earthdawn 4E: Anatomy of a Horror 05 - Cadaver Men

This is the fifth 4E Anatomy of a Horror, an ongoing series about Earthdawn Fourth Edition. Introduction and Index.

Everything contained here is the work of a fan and not associated with FASA Games.

There was a request for some less powerful Horrors constructs, specifically cadaver men, to throw at lower Circle characters. This is part of a very slow moving plan to ultimately update the encounters in adventures from previous editions for 4E. A variety are presented so the gamemaster can choose the difficulty they want and provide more options for encounter building in general.

These cadaver men both lose the Rage power rely on increased Fury combined with a reduced Wound Threshold and Fragile Form to replicate the effects of Rage without being as immediately dangerous to a lower Circle group. They're still very dangerous, with high Attack and Damage, but the reduced number of attacks makes them significantly more manageable.

Cadaver Man, Lesser

Challenge: Novice (First Circle)
DEX: 5        Initiative:                  5       Unconsciousness:      25
STR: 6         Physical Defense:  8       Death Rating:               32
TOU: 6        Mystic Defense:      8      Wound Threshold:     5
PER: 4        Social Defense:       7       Knockdown:                  8
WIL: 4        Physical Armor:     0       Recovery Tests:           2
CHA: 3       Mystic Armor:         2
Movement: 12
Actions: 1; Unarmed: 11 (13)
Powers:
Fragile Form (5): Additional damage over the lesser cadaver man's Wound Threshold can inflict additional Wounds; every 5 additional damage points causes an additional Wound
Fury (6)
Immune to FearEach fear effect is considered a Wound for the purposes of activating the lesser cadaver man's Fury power.
Special Maneuvers:
Enrage (Opponent)See Gamemaster's Guide, p. 252.
Misdirect (Opponent, Close Combat)The attacker may spend two additional successes against a lesser cadaver man affected by the Fury power to direct the lesser cadaver man at a specific target. This may not be used to direct the lesser cadaver man against its allies. If there are multiple instances of this special maneuver or Provoke, only the most recent has any effect.
Provoke (Opponent, Close Combat)See Gamemaster's Guide, p. 252. This maneuver only costs one extra success if the lesser cadaver man is affected by the Fury power.

Cadaver Man, Minor
